Policy
Sources Policy
India Toolbox prefers official or primary-source framing where the page depends on Indian policy, rate tables, tax logic, scheme rules, or platform assumptions that materially change the result.
This policy explains how source quality is judged and how pages handle situations where no perfect live source can be embedded into a practical calculator.
Source priority
- Official government, regulator, or public policy references where applicable
- Published platform documentation or publicly stated assumptions for marketplace workflows
- Practical workflow references that help explain what a document or output is used for
- India Toolbox internal modelling notes only after the relevant external framing is clear
When pages cite or summarize sources
Not every page needs a long bibliography, but pages that depend on change-sensitive rules should make the review basis visible. That can include tax framing, GST logic, small-savings assumptions, marketplace fee assumptions, or state-linked estimate boundaries.
The site aims to summarize the part of the source that matters for the user’s task instead of overwhelming the page with irrelevant citation theatre.
How source quality is judged
A source is stronger when it is primary, current enough for the page’s use case, and specific to the Indian workflow being modelled. A source is weaker when it is generic, stale, anonymous, or too far removed from the actual question the user is asking.
If the best available source is still imperfect for a static calculator, the page should be honest about that rather than pretend the source resolves all uncertainty.
Outdated or volatile sources
Where a page depends on information that can change, such as seller-fee assumptions or some state-level estimate tables, the page should make that volatility obvious. If the source basis becomes too weak, the page may be narrowed, reworded, or de-emphasized until it can be maintained properly again.
The goal is not to preserve indexable surface at any cost. The goal is to preserve trustworthy surface.
